The staircase nook is a good spot for ornaments.

The first floor landing leads to the good sized bathroom with a bath and shower and heated towel rack. Like the rest of the rooms it has its own radiator so never gets cold.

The main bedroom is also off the first floor landing. Again, it has lovely mullion windows and a nice view of the gardens, trees and hill behind the house.

The coalfireplace is quite pretty.

The landing has a good sized built in cupboard and the bedroom houses a three door wardrobe.

Up another flight of stairs we come to the attic bedroom. Its another really lovely space with good natural light from its windows.

One of the nicest things about this cottage is the neighbours. In this photo you can see the gate at the back of the garden that’s used as a spot to feed the sheep.

Higher up the hill they run rare breed goats (worth a walk and a look).

Surrounding the small field on the hill is forrest with a stream running down that travels under a culvert towards the canal. The council clears it regulalry and there’s little risk from floods. Because hills are full of mature trees, the mornings are full of bird-song. Its really great to wake up to. The cottage is around 180 years old, but its location falls just outside the heritage zone, so the regulations for any renovations are normal rather than historically strict.

We think that local folks are likely to buy the cottage in which case they probably know a great deal about the surrounds. But just in case, lets go outside.

If going to the train station its less than a minute’s walk, yet passes by the allotments and over the canal and river.

The allotments bank onto the river Calder.

A five minute walk along the canal path (below) leads to the small stone bridge that crosses into Hebden town.

We often prefer to walk through Calder Holmes park (the green adjacent to the canal) because its pretty.

The park’s great for families. It has this children’s playground (above), as well as football, tennis, and basketball, a skating ramp, and a cafe where they sell gourmet icecreams.

Alongside the park runs the river.

The track alongside it is great for dogwalkers, strollers and bike riders.

And it forms one of the pleasant features of Hebden Bridge town.
